Ok, so I left Pro Tools for Reaper in 2007 when I was still a PC based DAW user and builder. You'll still need a lot of other software to end up with what Logic provides.
There's nothing wrong with that, but it's kind of like buying the frame of a car. Reaper is more like an alternative to ProTools.
Logic X also has gobs of channel and bus templates so you can load up an entire strip to get a good starting place for most sources.Īt $199 Logic can be a one-purchase solution that provides everything you need to complete most projects. Then you have Drummer, which is an absolutely revolutionary app with a huge variety of sounds and styles built in.
The compressor suite includes everything you'd need. Then you have a suite of included plugins that are as good as most third-party stuff. Strings, synths, pianos, organs, horns, guitar and bass amp VST's, and all kinds of other stuff are included. The virtual instruments alone are a HUGE benefit. I don't think a straight-up comparison makes sense because Logic Pro X offers so much more than just a stable DAW environment.
